Yesterday was a lovely day for a daytrip to Lake Placid (NY) - home of Whiteface Mountain, where I learned to ski at the ripe age of about 5. My dad was a skier and he put all 6 of his kids on skis ata very early age. All but one of us enjoyed winters in the North Country skiing as kids into adulthood. It was fun to take a day from work and travel to that area yesterday with one of my sisters and another friend. We were determined to have lunch at one of the last remaining HoJo restaurants in the country, and we did! It was a hot turkey sandwich all around!!! Remember the "Tom Turkey" on the kids menu? Not much has changed except we sure did miss the waitresses in their startched up turquois uniforms and aprons. Nowadays it's black jeans, black oxford shirt and running shoes. Just not quite the same... but then again, what stays the same for 40 years? Nada.
So, I had my arsenal of Los Lonely Boys and deSol CDs and was hoping to rock out the ride but 3 women in a Volvo station wagon... it was just talk, talk, talk the whole way. So, sadly no Los Lonely Boys this trip! I guess I'll have to save that kind of roadtrip for my Boston Loopies and deSoldiers. :)
So, hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go after 4 days off. A great day to all!

Hi Nan! Sounds like a fun day! But Turkey? I can't do turkey. it doesn't agree with me... Next time we see you, we'll rock out in the car! They must have just been happy to see you, and to be together! That's so nice! I have no biological sisters, but I have Some wONDAful friends! :) Rosie
