A Late Happy New Year!

Well, I'm certainly behind the times in saying Happy New Year.. but Happy New Year anyway! Where did all the time go since I was last here? The holidays sucked it all up, I guess! So, with another season behind us and the prospect of getting through another New England winter - unscathed - we can start looking forward to the days getting longer, little by little. And it does happen! I was just noticing this a few evenings ago as I was leaving work and realized it was after 5 PM and not quite twilight. The winter sky was beautifully clear and the stars were starting to make themselves visible but it wasn't dark yet. Hope springs eternal, right?

This has been a pretty funky winter so far. Snow for Christmas and New Years was perfection - absolute textbook, a winter wonderland. And then an early "January Thaw" and in a matter of hours all the snow was gone, everything dried up and it's looking and feeling like late autumn again. One is tempted to think global warming and not poo-poo it this time? But a snowstorm is on the way tomorrow so we'll be back in business soon. :)

Had friends up from the Boston area in mid-December for another GREAT deSol show at Higher Ground. I can't say enough great things about this Asbury Park (NJ)-based band of 6 amazing musicians - "rock & roll with a Latin soul"! I tried to add them to my Jango Jukebox but their music wasn't there so I will suggest you go to their website and listen to samples. They are just incredible - as musicians - and as human beings. Nothing but heart and soul and their outlook on life gives meaning to love your brothers and sisters. If they are ever playing in your neck of the woods don't miss the opportunity to see them live. And, also a mention that the Garza Brothers - Henry, Jojo, and Ringo - aka Los Lonely Boys - are back in Texas after months on the road touring and supporting their last album, SACRED. The Boys are one of the hardest working bands out there - real road warriers - and have been doing it all their lives! So, time for a good long break for them to be with their families, rest up, write new music, and rejuice. They're in the studio now writing and recording new music. This is so anticipated by their fans - including this devoted fan and street teamer! This is supposed to be a late spring/early summer release. You wonder how they can top each show, each recording, etc. and they always do. Incredible and very special brothers... and another band that is not truly appreciated until you witness them live.
